Megadeth Canceled their Performance at Summerfest 2019
The iconic thrash metal band Megadeth has announced that they will not be performing at Summerfest. The band was supposed to play on July 4th, but in light of recent news decided not to play. This change was the result of Dave Mustaine, the group’s founder, singer, and guitarist, being diagnosed with throat cancer.
On the Summerfest website, it says that Mustaine has a therapy plan already in line to combat the illness. He states that the odds of him overcoming the tumor stand at around 90 percent and that the treatment is already underway. Meanwhile, the band has ceased all touring plans in the foreseeable future.
Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. President and CEO Don Smiley said that he and his organization wish Mustaine a quick recovery and that he has their thoughts and prayers as support.
Megadeth was scheduled to perform on Independence Day with guests that include Badflower, Papa Roach, and Pop Evil. Summerfest will refund tickets for the show that fans bought.
