Anonymous claims responsibility for downing/slowing of Facebook tonight

In some places across the world tonight, users are reporting Facebook outages or an extreme slownesss on Facebook. Yours truly is experiencing very slow loading times especially when trying to post a status or share something. And as of 10 p.m. ET, “RIP Facebook” was among the top 10 trending topics on Twitter in the U.S. and worldwide.

According to the Anonymous Twitter page, they have claimed responsibility for this “attack”.

“Looks like good old Facebook is having packet problems” and “Oh yeah … RIP Facebook a new sound of tango down, b——,”

These were some of the tweets posted by Anonymous on Thursday evening.

This does not bode well at all for Facebook who went public last week and is currently having one of the biggest IPO failures of all time.
